History of Studium Actoris:
International theatre company founded in 1989 in Bodø , Norway with the name Polar Plexus. During its existence the company has emerged thanks to the content, the broad appeal and then richness of its activity including experimental theatre, research in the art of the actor, comedy, festivals and guest performances from abroad, seminars and workshops aiming to the development of the actor's tools, small and big local events for the people.
Studium Actoris was created by the italian actor Paolo Martini, the swiss actor Rolf Heim, the norwegian actresses Elin Lindberg, Jannicke Stensnes and Ann Kristin Knapstad-Nordberg.
Roger Rolin from Institutet för Scenkonst has been the group director and mentor since the very beginning. In 1992 the group moved to South-Norway and was at first guested by the company Skuespillerkompaniet in Gvarv and later on by Grenland Friteater in Porsgrunn. Today the group artistic stab consists of 2 people, Paolo Martini and Jannicke Stensnes, whose collaboration dates back to 1984 and who has their educational and ethical imprint from Instituet för Scenkonst, Sweden. The administrative leader is Veronica Bålerud Mittet, taking care of the tasks in the office and of the relationships between the group and the world around. After a number of years spent “wandering” from town to town, the group manage eventually to establish its activity in Fredrikstad in 1997 and, since 2004, it has its own working space and offices in Tøihuset in Old Town Fredrikstad. Here has Studium Actoris, in a close relationship with their neighbours Østfold Teater and Studio 75, got a great base camp to develop an artistic activities aiming out to Norway and the rest of Europe.
Since 1999 is Studium Actoris promoter and artistic leader for street festival Folk i gata and the performance series SAFT - Scenekunst Adresse Fredrikstad, where international theatre groups, artists and musicians visit Fredrikstad with their artistic expression. Until today over 100 guest performances has been organised where, amongst others the following groups have being invited: Grenland Friteater, Green Ginger, Enrico Bonavera, Odin Teatret, Paolo Nani, Beppe Gambetta, Institutet för Scekonst, SOng of the Goat, Nola Rae.
The groups activity is permanently financed by Fredrikstad Municipality and Østfold County Administration.
Since 2007 Studium Actoris receives permanent managing support from Norsk kulturråd over chapter 74 in the National Budget.
